Cropped "R" Logo Knit
The Piece
the Piece
This Sweatshirt presents one of our favorite signatures of Raf.
Cropped Oversized Knitwear - something that no other designer could, or would even try to do better. The archival red “R” logo on the right side of the chest is stitched on the black Knit and is a very famous staple of some archive Raf basics like turtlenecks or cardigans. The piece is reversed, which is visible on the red stitching along the shoulders but it can be worn on both sides.
the Collection
Spring Summer 2019 was a year of change for Raf Simons. While leaving Calvin Klein and showcasing his last Collection for them, he needed something to change for his own brand, and the momentary world of couture. “We need a new outline. I know I was part of it myself, but too many hoodies with prints! You know, something needs to shift.” Simons spoke.
He presented his glamourous Collection at 11pm in the suburbs of Paris, in a rave-like Warehouse, which really reminded us about his earlier days of unconventional presentation. He presented aestethic norms in a more lavish, but softer way, where a lot of his runway show featured traditional womenswear with untraditional material (for example the huge satin coats). Safety pins, graphic tees, and DIY, all aesthetic references of the New Wave Punk movement of the 70's/80’s, were brilliantly transformed with garments so that the runway show couldn’t do more but impress.
