The Piece

Unveiled under Gucci’s contemporary reimagining of house codes, the “L’aveugle par amour” Trucker Jacket carries both a rebellious and romantic undertone. The classic trucker cut in washed black denim provides a utilitarian foundation, while embroidered motifs across the shoulders introduce a layer of intricate detail and symbolic weight.

Crafted in 100% cotton, the fabric’s softened surface reflects wearability without compromising structure. The front carries the familiar chest pockets and button closure of the trucker form, while the embroidery introduces a delicate counterpoint to its rugged simplicity.

The jacket encapsulates Gucci’s tension between tradition and subversion, an everyday garment reworked into a statement of sentiment and style, oscillating between toughness and intimacy.

Collection

Gucci's Spring/Summer 2016 was Alessandro Michele's second collection for the house, channeling seventies dandy aesthetics through what he described as "Situationist dérive," the practice of playfully exploring urban spaces. The boyish, androgynous lineup featured what Michele called "old ladyish" details: lace shirts, blazers embroidered with roses, birds, and flowers, frilly shirt cuffs, silk dressing gowns with fur cuffs, and pajama cut separates in tropical prints. Pussy bows and ribbon ties punctuated the romantic silhouettes, while motifs of parakeets and pineapples appeared in appliqué alongside floral flares.

Michele's "chic nerd" aesthetic came through in oversized granny glasses rendered in yellow lensed and blue tinted styles, creating what he described simply as "full of beauty" when pressed backstage. The footwear proved equally divisive: glitter sandals, studded strap sandals, men's ballet flats in orange patent and floral print canvas, metallic dusted sneakers with hiker laces tied around the ankle, and embroidered loafers that pushed traditional menswear boundaries. The collection merged punk rawness with dainty romance, soundtracked by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's Renaissance polyphony, as Michele explored his vision of masculinity rooted in beauty rather than rigid gender definitions, declaring "the young generation are the real saints of the new world."
