Raf Simons' Fall/Winter 2019 menswear collection marked his first show after departing Calvin Klein, presented in the ornate gold-lined ballroom of Paris's Shangri-La Hotel, a dramatic shift from his usual sparse warehouses that signaled a creative and literal homecoming to Antwerp.

The collection focused on oversized outerwear: elongated coats in heavy wool, leather, and corduroy rendered in burgundy and deep teal, alongside an archival military parka and a light blue trench adorned with dangling butterfly keychains on metal hooks. This romantic hardware extended throughout, hanging flowers and cherry charms created decorative accents, while the most eccentric pieces were hybrid headwear constructions fusing jockey caps, umbrellas, and backward baseball caps into sculptural accessories. Graphics featured x-ray bone imagery and references to David Lynch's 1986 film Blue Velvet, revisiting the formative obsessions of Simons' youth through a stripped-back, intimate aesthetic.
