The Piece

Part of the Fall Winter 2017 collection, this Police Jacket reimagines a traditionally rugged silhouette through an unexpected lens. Cut from soft pink leather, its faded surface lends a patinated, worn character that contrasts with the structured lines of its design.

The pointed collar, flap chest pockets, and zip closure highlight the utilitarian origins of the piece, while the subtle weathering of the leather softens its authority, shifting the jacket into a more nuanced register. Its pale tone and finish give the garment both familiarity and subversion, making it stand apart from conventional interpretations of leather outerwear.

This jacket captures the season’s exploration of contrasts between strength and fragility, tradition and reinvention, embodying a piece that feels timeless.

Collection

When designer Raf Simons surprisingly announced his retirement from Dior in 2015, everyone was excited to see what would come next. He led the traditional company into a new era with his minimalism, as can be seen in the film “Dior & I”.

In August 2016, Calvin Klein, Inc. announced the appointment of Raf Simons as Chief Creative Officer of the brand, overseeing all aspects of design, global market and communications, and visual creative services.

The move from Calvin Klein was viewed as a shift for the brand and it’s place in the fashion world. CK was seen as a brand that fits more into the category of Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, rather than high-class luxury brands. But Raf Simons came to change things 180 degrees. He arrived at 205 West 39th Street, Calvin Klein’s longtime address and renamed his luxury label, that was created within CK, 205W39NYC.
